How to identify a font from a screenshot
- Capture the text — on Windows press Win+Shift+S, on Mac ⌘⇧4, or paste straight into the box above with Ctrl/Cmd+V.
- Drag to crop just the word you want identified. One font per crop.
- Check the detected letters, fix any misreads, and read the ranked matches.
Tips for better screenshot matches
- Capture at 100% zoom or higher so letter edges stay crisp.
- Favor PNG over JPEG — JPEG ringing artifacts sit exactly where letterforms live.
- Include a full word or two; three or more letters is far stronger evidence than one.
- Lowercase carries more identifying detail than capitals.
- Light text on dark backgrounds works fine — polarity is handled automatically.
Everything runs locally in your browser — your screenshot is never uploaded anywhere. For photos of physical signs, use the same tool; for joined-up script, see our handwriting font finder.
